Tara Decker was born and raised in a farming community in Saskatchewan. She spent her summers helping on the farm, sailing or teaching swimming lessons at the local pool.

After finishing her arts degree in Saskatoon, Tara headed west for the bright lights of Vancouver. While attending UBC, she met her husband. Following graduation the couple returned to his hometown of Kamloops where they have lived for the past eight years.

Tara has one daughter, aged 2, and one dog. Hours outside of the office are spent at home playing with her daughter, walking the dog or on the ball field.

In addition to her work, Tara is a member of the Interior Health Authority – Thompson Region Ethics Committee and the University College of the Cariboo, Masters of Public Administration Advisory Committee. She maintains professional memberships in the Kamloops Bar Association and Canadian Bar Association.
