I was raised in northern British Columbia in a rural environment. I worked in the oil fields and trained as an electrician in Calgary in the 1980s. I returned to university in 1984 and completed my legal education in 1990. My work experience gives me insight into the practical problems my clients face when injuries impair their ability to work.

I practiced criminal law, municipal law and personal injury between 1991 and 2000. My experience in criminal law has given me a strong foundation in the law of evidence. I have appeared in the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the British Columbia Court of Appeal and before the Pension Appeals Board of Canada. Since the year 2000, I have restricted my practice to acting for plaintiffs in personal injury claims.
